Born
in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico; raised on classic rock and latin music.
Indira's father was a Pentecostal pastor who taught her the value of
Jimi Hendrix and percussion in rock music; her mother taught her to
value herself. As a teen Indira had the opportunity to perform at
venues such as the UN Global Youth Forum, Tribeca Arts Center, Earth
Day NY, The Roundabout Theatre, and The Learning Channel. Indira was
also blessed with the opportunity to have traveled to many different
countries, an experience which she believes to be an integral part
of her songwriting.
By 2003 Indira had begun to minister along with her good friends
Omar Johnson, Danny Serrano, and Joshua Vigo as the Indira Ortiz
Band. That same year we were awarded best new artist at the Judah
International Music Conference, Faith World, Orlando, Florida.
Indira looks forward to making new friends both on the road and at
home.
